Taking body measurements

We regularly take clients’ body measurements before they place an online garment order or commission a made-to-measure item. Overseas companies often ask for body measurements rather than a dress size to ensure the item is made correctly and will fit the owner.

What is the difference between made-to-measure, bespoke and made-to-order? The terminology can be unclear to customers, and occasionally, companies take advantage of clients’ ignorance. A made-to-measure or a bespoke garment is made for you only. It has your individual measurements. For any made-to-measure or bespoke order, measurements must be taken to ensure the garment will fit you perfectly. A made-to-order item is made closest to your dress size.

Made-to-measure garments are made from a stock of patterns from which clients choose. Certain styles are available and made to the client’s measurements with various fabric options. Made to measure is an option how to have a garment made carrying your measurements without
