Jacket & Suit Alterations

Design & Alter is well known for its experience and excellence in formal and jacket alterations. Our jacket tailors are professionals skilled in maintaining and reapplying the finish of the original making the alteration unnoticeable. This might not be important for all garments but most definitely for a designer and high-quality suits. Hence we are very conscious about the finish of any suit alterations. Whether it is the colour and quality of thread, the type of stitching or any additional details; original bindings will be reapplied and accessories matched with the best possible outcome for our clients in mind.

As an example one of the most common jacket alterations is shortening sleeves; this can be done in different ways: Shortening a sleeve from the cuff is a straightforward process and might only include resetting of vents and buttons. Occasionally the sleeve cuff will be unpicked, the length then taken off the sleeve and the cuff then reapplied. However, should your jacket hold extensive detailing we recommend shortening the sleeves from the shoulder of a garment? This helps to preserve the proportions, detailing like buckles, working buttonholes and overall integrity of the original design. The work takes longer and is therefore slightly more expensive. It provides a great final finish and is a very professional way to shorten sleeves. We alter jackets for private clients and shops such as Acne Studio.
