Faux Fur Alterations, Fur Alterations
Believing in animal welfare and the ethical consideration of wearing fur sensibly, we support revamping existing and inherited fur jackets and coats. We alter, restyle and repair any type of faux fur as well as fur. Whether it is a fashion statement, vintage garment, or an inherited fur coat from your mum that holds emotional value, we have specialised tailors and machinery to work with all types of fur. By updating an inherited fur, you can turn an old-fashioned beauty into a new signature piece expressing a modern, very current feel and being timeless at the same time.

Appointments: We work by appointment, where you will be looked after by one of our fitting consultants. We will discuss the alterations required to best fit your garment. At the end of the fitting, we provide a cost estimate so you can decide whether to proceed with the alterations. We can suggest various solutions to alter your garment, some of which may help save on costs.
Please remember to bring your shoes to your appointment to ensure we get the best possible fit.
Charges: To provide a realistic price estimate, we need to see your garment, understand its construction, and know how it fits you. Alteration costs may vary, particularly for complex, constructed dresses and heavily detailed designer wear. We charge £80 per hour for alterations and fitting appointments.
If this is your first time using us, you will receive 30 minutes of free fitting time to introduce you to our outstanding tailoring quality.
Coat Alterations & Restyling
D&A is well known for its experience and excellence in altering formal clothes. The difference professional alterations can make to a coat is visible and tangible: a feeling of being at ease with your look and a natural confidence in your appearance. For your fitting appointment, please bring any garments you want to wear underneath your coat—a jacket, a heavy-knitted jumper, or a waistcoat. We take these into consideration when we take your measurements and perfect the coat fit.
Our professional jacket and suit tailors look after your coat tailoring and ensure that any alterations will be as invisible as possible. Any original stitching will be continued, and bindings will be re-applied. One of the most common alterations on coats and jackets is shortening sleeves. This can be straightforward when the sleeve is to be shortened from the cuff. If any detail like vents, working buttonholes, embroidery or buckles are involved, we take sleeves up from the shoulders if sleeve width allows. This will take our tailors slightly longer but ensures that any detailing and proportions are maintained to keep the original look and finish. We alter coats for private clients and commercial partners like Doverstreet Market.
